The first two lines of a description are what most people see, chapters make long videos easier to navigate, and the right disclosure line keeps you on the right side of advertising rules. Build all three in a minute.
How to use it
- Enter your title, main keyword and a one-line hook.
- Add chapters, one per line, starting at 0:00. The tool checks YouTube rules as you type.
- Choose the disclosures that apply to this video and your audience region.
- Copy the finished description into YouTube Studio.
How it works
Chapters follow YouTube Help: the first timestamp must be 0:00, you need at least three, they must be in ascending order, and each chapter must be at least 10 seconds long. Hashtags are best kept to a few, and YouTube ignores all of them if a video has more than 15.
Disclosure lines are general starting points, not legal advice. Rules differ by country and by situation, so check the current guidance from your own regulator.
Frequently asked questions
How many chapters do I need?
At least three, the first at 0:00, each at least 10 seconds long.
Do hashtags help?
They are a minor signal. Up to three show above the title. If you use more than 15, YouTube ignores them all.
Do I have to disclose paid promotion?
In most markets, yes. In the US see the FTC endorsement guidance, in the UK the ASA and CMA guidance, in Australia the ACCC and Ad Standards. YouTube also has a paid promotion checkbox in Studio.
